Every weekend students are suggested activities such as events or workshops they might like to and can benefit from attending, places they could go to learn or experience something completely new and enhancing, activities which are at the core of our experiential-based learning model at EduLift.
On their first weekend, the “Explore After SLC” intake attended an event called Celebrating the Spirit of Youth. The event was organised by Youth Action Fund Nepal (YAF), and took place at Embassy Restaurant & Bar, Lazimpat, Kathmndu on 19th April, 2014. It was a social initiative by YAF to call upon all innovative and enthusiastic youths to join in their cause of promoting social entrepreneurial actions. The event allowed youth to share their ideas, participate in workshops and to be inspired and motivated towards social causes.
The event consisted of two workshops done by social enterprises such as Quark Solutions, Youth for Blood and Equal Access & Accountability Lab. It was followed by an open bazaar where various social entrepreneurs, especially youth showcased their products/services and interacted with our students. Two favourites among many of our students was Youth for Blood where they learnt about fresh blood donating within 24 hrs service, and Saathi Sanga Manka Kura, a radio talk show that encourages young people in transitional phases to talk about their issues be it from sexual harrassment to migration.
The program ended with an open mike where any talented and enthusiastic youth could share their poems, perform or sing.
